I'm in the process of cleaning the PEI glue off my bed now to replace the sheet (wish that were an easier task - boy does that glue like to stay on even with alcohol or GooGone) so I'd really prefer not to repeat the bed destruction any time soon. Transparent option for translucent parts. $ 88.00. Prusament PC Blend Carbon Fiber Black is made in-house by Prusa Research. Middle layers aka "Layer Height" located under Print Settings/Layers and Perimeters/Layer Height. Let me know if you'd like some pictures and I'll post them up! A good print will be strong but slightly more flexible than PLA, stiffer than ABS . Product Details:1. If the cost is so painful, use PLA to create the prototype and iterations of the part, then use a fiber filled nylon for the final product. I've used about 40% of the roll I have on a Bambu Lab X1 Carbon, and I'm buying another now to make sure I have it in stock. I'm trying one last thing. The print quality it offers . For high-temperature applications, PC is in a league of its own. This review is for both the Priline Carbon Fiber PetG and the Priline Carbon Fiber Polycarbonate filaments. The first warning sign that something was off with this "polycarbonate" is that the label on the spool recommends a printing temp of "190-220" and bed . Check out our in-depth article on how to, Beat Moisture Before It Kills Your 3D Printing Filament. Moisture can be eliminated by using dryboxes for material storage, or by incorporating a drying mechanism like a PrintDry or modified food dehydrator. Private
The first two prints were done at 240/70 and I had problems with adhesion so I decided to try printing it with a raft. The slight sheen to the surface finish does a great job of hiding layer lines, and and the part feels like dense nylon. You can produce a strong part with this material, but unless you go heavy with the infill and perimeters, the part will snap pretty easily. Some rely on PC for remote-controlled 3D printed car parts, and general projects that need to handle higher temperatures and strong impacts.3D printed remote controlled car parts made from Polycarbonate filament. Weve found that 30mm/sec while using a polycarbonate filament temperature of at least 265C will produce good results. I use Priline as a cheaper alternative PC when heat resistance and absolute strength are less vital. Not Polymaker, not PC-ABS, the plain old classic polycarb. Here is what I found with the Priline carbonfiber PC: The price of the CF polycarbonate was less than half of the carbon fiber nylon materials tested. 0.4mm diameter minimum It just needs to keep heat in effectively to reduce warping and layer splitting. Any settings would be extremely helpful. I couldnt find the info on their website. Sell now. Printing wet Polycarbonate can lead to hydrolysis which will permanently alter the filament on a molecular level, making it significantly weaker than it would be if it were printed dry. Onyx: Slight textured surface finish with slight gloss. Make sure that this fits by entering your model number. I have Expert view enable in the PRUSA Slicer app, but for the life of me, I cannot see either of these on any of the tabs (Layers, Infill, Advanced, etc) pulling my hair out lol. Several popular filaments can be bought with carbon fiber fill including PLA, PETG, Nylon, ABS, and Polycarbonate. As is often said about PETG, it combines all the best traits of PLA and ABS. CarbonX Nylon produced a good looking quality part, but does not look as finished as the others. A higher printing bed temperature will also help to eliminate any delaminating issues that might arise. It's NOTHING like Prusament's CF PC filament. Shortly after, Materhackers introduced their NylonX material, which seems very similar. Seems like it might be a good filament if I can get it dialed in. Polycarbonate filaments are strong and amazingly heat resistant. . This material is ideal for anyone that desires a structural component with high heat, high stiffness, excellent surface quality, and dimensional stability. I learned a lot p. Marketed under the trade name Lexan, it is used to make products as varied as CDs and DVDs, bulletproof glass, riot gear, sunglass lenses, scuba masks, electronic display screens, phone and computer cases, and much more. There's some minor warping and a little sagging over a 2mm gap. Polycarbonate filaments are also sometimes reinforced with carbon fibers or glass fibers to add strength and other properties. So I had a successful print with no major first layer issues or distortion of outside perimeters as previously experienced. Absolutely bonded to the PEI and wound up tearing much of it off with the print. These are my two favorite filaments, each having different advantages. The melting point of a substance is the temperature at which this phase change occurs. When changing filament from any other material to Polycarbonate, youll want to heat the hot end to at least 260C. As the price goes up, you can see improvements to the features; heat tolerance, high strength-weight ratio, dimensional accuracy at 0.03, warp-free printing, stellar layer adhesion, simple support removal, 5-10% . Picture Information. No ratings or reviews yet No . I'm having issues with the layers printing in the carbon fiber filament from priline. A modified $21 cosori dehydrator that brought the humidity from 40 straight out of the package to 10%. The fiber seems to cool the material more quickly, while standard nylon stays molten hot for longer. Consider using a larger nozzle: Though this is a trade-off between surface finish and layer adhesion. If you can get a higher temperature out of your extruder, you can experiment with a faster printing speed, say 60mm/sec. In fact, polycarbonate transmits visible light better than many kinds of glass. $54.99. Below is a list of the test results while printing with MatterHackers Polycarbonate on three popular printers. High thermal properties, Polycarb itself has a Tg of 147C, Amorphous structure gives it low, near isotropic shrinkage, Further improved stiffness and dimensional stability with the addition of carbon fiber reinforcement. As mentioned, Polycarbonate is hard to print but not impossible. Air scrubber, external mounted electronics, LED strips in 4 corners and top. Priline should be ashamed of themselves. This page works best with JavaScript. There doesnt seem to be any claim to fiber length with NylonX, so it seems its just adding density with the lightweight powder. . 60% of a 0.6mm Nozzle is 0.36mm. Test print I did was good printed at 0.10 layer and 260/100 temps at 50mm/s speed, fan on. From Polycarbonate. Latest Post: Login with every visit Our newest member: Thibaut Meche
Adding chopped carbon fiber virtually solves both the issue of stiffness, and print difficulty. The fiber is in a chopped powder form, so they arent making any claims about increased layer bonding or added isotopic strength. I'm trying one last thing. Priline Carbon Fiber Polycarbonate Not Good. NylonX also produced good surface finish and quality, only slightly less quality than Markforged Onyx. PRILINE Carbon fiber Super hard filament has better dimensional stability for warp free printing, very good layer adhesion, and easy reinforce removal.2. I'll have to do some digging. Parts seem as durable, and cost a fraction of the price. Resists temperatures and retains form up to 110 C. Priline CF isn't as rigid as Polymax PC, nor does it have quite the thermal resistance. The filament has a 1.75mm standard diameter. Closed, Assembly and first prints troubleshooting, Priline Carbon Fiber Polycarbonate Not Good, Nylon Material all over, no more part density, Prusament PC Blend Carbon Fiber Presets @ 0.35mm resolution, First Layer Nozzle Temp: 270c (for best bed adhesion), First Layer Bed Temp: 100c (for best bed adhesion), First Layer Thickness: 0.2mm (for best bed adhesion on textured sheet, use glue stick), First Layer Speed: 15mm/sec (keeps sudden direction changes from peeling first layer up), Middle Layers Nozzle Temp: 235c (Prevents middle layers from distorting). Hi there, I have am UM2+ with an I2K and TinkerGnome firmware. Therefore, a good option for 3D printing Polycarbonate is to use a Polycarbonate cutting board, and then use an adhesive such as glue stick or hairspray on this cutting board to improve layer adhesion. Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2020. Polycarbonate is also hygroscopic, so you have to make the same accommodations for keeping the material dry. Replied
You will also need a heated bed, heated up to at least 90C, and preferably higher at 120C+, and commonly even 135-150C. Not Polycarbonate! Supports break away MUCH easier than compared to nylon, and dimensional accuracy overall is improved and better controlled. Material: Glass fiber PC - Color: Black - Weight: 1 KG (approximately 2.20 lbs) Spool. Therefore it is essential that the printer be able to reach and maintain high hot end and bed temperatures. It also has a relatively high heat resistance and can be bent at room temperature without cracking or breaking. This, along with their physical makeup, are what give this material its excellent properties. Active
I decided to give this material a try, at least to see if it was a worth low-cost alternative. Priline Carbon Fiber Polycarbonate Hello everyone, I am rather new here to this forum so sorry if this topic has already been covered, I picked up a roll of Priline's carbon . There are a couple key components to this type of material that I found attractive: Prints at a high temp for very strong layer adhesion, carbon fibers add dimensional accuracy and reduced warping (Easier to print). The X1C ships with a hardened steel 0.4mm nozzle, but you're going to want to swap that for a 0.6mm nozzle (or perhaps a 0.8mm if you're consistently doing large / dense parts) The 0.4mm is hardened so abrasives are usually fine but PA-CF and PC-CF are next level and super prone to clogging on 0.4mm nozzles. Others have stated 235c nozzle temp works really well, but this temp will not stick to bed even with glue. Hover to zoom. 124 people found . To insert the table into a page, post, or text widget, copy the Shortcodeand paste it into the editor. Use gluestick for printbed adhesion. The parts made with CF are stiffer, but a lot more brittle and I had no use for it anymore. The one that produced the best prints was the. Just wondered if any of you folks have any more experience with this stuff that would be worth sharing? Neither of these are acceptable for an automotive part that I plan on marketing to the Jeep community. Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to hear about new products, updates & sales! Warping: Polycarbonate warps a lot even more than ABS and layers often split if you 3D print polycarbonate under the wrong conditions. I am the least experience with Poly-carbonate so I happy to dig into a full 1kg roll. I decided to give this material a try, at least to see if it was a worth low-cost alternative. Because of this, it's strongly recommended this material be printed through a hardened steel nozzle rather than a softer metal. This is especially true with Polycarbonate since a mediocre first layer will result in a print failure due to warping and the print peeling from the bed surface. Finally, remember to disable the filament cooling fan(s) during printing. The comments report the average value, and number of data points used to calculate the average. Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2020. Our goal continues to be to make the most innovative filaments on the market, targeting difficult end-use applications where functionality is king. Today I am reviewing some Poly-carbonate for Priline. From my crude testing, I cant find any results that debunk that claim. The Priline PC carbon fiber prints with essentially the same settings as their non-carbon fiber filament. I still used glue stick on PEI to print all three of these brands. Priline CF isn't as rigid as Polymax PC, nor does it have quite the thermal resistance. One thing to consider about nylon and even plolycarbinate is that they are hygroscopic, meaning they will absorb moisture from the air. The carbon fiber added to the nylon gives.a slightly textured matte finish that actually helps to hide layer lines well. PC filament is also bendable and machine bendable at room temperature with this flexibility allowing it to withstand high tensile forces that break or shatter filaments like ABS. Most 3D printers cannot handle these temperatures, but if you try the highest temperature your 3D printer can maintain, you may still be able to 3D print PC filament without too much warping.
