Air sucks for dps and tanking in classic, can be useful in groups against casters, in Lower Guk for example. There is also a pair of undead graveyards here that can offer some decent exp in this range for Paladins, but the mob density is all that and you're better off in another zone. This zone is a lot better when you factor those in. This guide has been updated in 2022 and is up to date with Visions of Vetrovia and the new 125 level cap! It isn't bad, but you start looking at 2-3 mobs per 1 percent. A NOTE ON MERCS: At 75, you can do the Korascian Warrens progression. But first about the zone. Fortress itself is a very popular zone for Damage Shield leveling due to the density and fast respawn times, so there is a pretty good chance that a high level player will be here doing that for box toons or guildies. Sarith, City of the Tides (94-98) Sarith is probably the best place to farm nameds ever. Grieg himself is often camped but if he is up be careful. You can come here a little earlier if you want, but ensure you have some form of crowd control handy. Brother Island (Guild Hall>Deluge>Tempest Temple>Brother Island) - This zone is great because there are almost no Kill on Sight mobs, allowing you to wander freely. At level 5 it gets its second ability, with third obtained at level 15. A single heroic 85 is all that is really needed to roll over the content though, which shouldn't be hard to find on any server you're on. It is highly recommended that you do this. It essentially serves to let you worry about leveling without stopping for AAs. Considering you should be killing three mobs every cycle in which each cycle is 10min and 40 secs, you should be killing 15 mobs an hour. I typically use them around 55-70 when your merc starts running out of steam but before you really pick up major power boosts. This expansion introduced Mercenaries and basically completely changed the way you level in Everquest. After 75, you get much stronger gear so you can quickly kill the minotaurs at the minotaur fort. They have low HP and don't hit very hard. If you hit "M" you can see your map. You get to experience every bit of content across 110 levels, hundreds of zones, and 24 expansions. A bunch of the missions and HAs are actually really fun too if done once or twice. This ability, when activated, transports you back to your starting city. Katta Castrum: The Deluge (Guild Hall, TP using Drowned Katta Castrum Powerstone) - The elementals that are found in this zone now are pretty easy to kill. Lots of good loot and the spider camp and kobold village are pretty easy. WHY PLAY LIVE? Murder the "of Fire" mobs from 65 to 68. The adds are just too intense. This is no longer a viable leveling method. Finally the yeti caves are a decent camp as well, offering two named yeti and if no one is doing the cockatrice then those two nameds as well. Make sure you clear both the left and right sides of the first courtyard. When you suspend your mercenary the button will change to Unsuspend. Also you don't have to worry about paying them until around level 12. Moloing is effective in the early levels due to overpowered Tank Mercs, but starting in the 60s leveling takes longer and the Tank Merc becomes less overpowered versus the content. Also keep in mind almost everything here summons. The north and east you can at least run out if you botch a pull. For a quick example, an Apprentice Tier V mercenary caps out at a 90% rez where as a Journeyman Tier I mercenary will have a 96% rez. For example say you shrouded to level 10 Your mercenary will be free again. There are two main camps that youll use. SOME DISCLAIMERS: First I want to point out that Almar's Guides are pretty good and he lays out a pretty fantastic path to getting to max level and getting geared along with plenty of other advice.
